Evening Hike in the Badlands

We arrived at the Badlands in time for an evening hike. There's really only one major trail through the center of the park and we had already decided to tackle that on Thursday. So, we hit several small trails of 1/2 mile to 1 mile that are directly off the road. These are nice walkways leading to a window where you could glimpse some beautiful scenery.
Storms skirt through this area rather frequently, and although it looked like it was going to rain buckets when we arrived, it didn't. The Badlands only sees 16 inches of rain a year. We saw a nice rainbow after the rain blew through.

There were several signs warning people of rattlesnakes. We kept an eye out, but we never saw one. Given the large number of signs warning people, I asked a ranger how many snakebites they get a year.
He said they've only had 2 in the past 30 years. Maybe the signs are working.
